The banded gecko is an attractive species which prefers hilly rainforest, though it can also be found in the lowlands. It occurs in a limited range of Southeast Asia on the Thai-Malay Peninsula. A series of broad dark bands cover the purplish brown body while the belly is white. The bands are also bordered with yellowish spots while the eyes are remarkably large and grey. Juveniles are even more attractive with a strong yellowish tinge and reddish hues on their body. The banded gecko has been described from Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia (absent from Singapore, previous records listed from there were a result of miscommunication).
